It will partially be decided by how hard it will be to get MPLS terminated in our Toronto datacenter.įirst of all thanks to everybody spending your knowlegde with me.Ī symetric DSL solution costs ten times more (and very low speed) We've been talking about MPLS (as a very long term thing, not a quick decision) for ourselves. Time Warner, Cablevision, FIOS are all quite a bit better. Cox and Comcast are the worst that I know. and MPLS can be had almost everywhere in the world.Ĭovad is another good vendor as is XO In a lot of the areas where I work the commercial lines with some pretty decent speeds (like 5Mb/s+) are like $80-$120.

but it can be an affordable way for most businesses to go, and rates have come down a long ways from even just a year ago. if the numbers don't add up then they don't add up. you have to have the justification to do it. MPLS is not the right choice for everyone. But it is an affordable way to go for many SMB's when you consider that they could be paying $200 a month for internet with (comcast business or cox or att or xx vendor here) and then they double that bill when they have more than on location. pretty much most of my pipes are oc 3 or higher. And we have some rather obscure locations.Īs for pricing I've seen them as low as $350 per month for a 512 symetrical connection. as far as vendors goes, Verizon business is who we have turned to for all of our stuff as they can provide us with connections around the globe within 30 days. We have MPLS Connections in about 28 different countries and 15 different states including many small very rural areas.
